People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER) is a multi-racial organization of low-income workers and tenants that has been building economic and political power for working class people in San Francisco since 1997. POWER works to increase civic activism amongst working class people of color to advance economic and racial justice.
Over the past ten years POWER’s winning combination of community organizing, alliance-building, and leadership development has won significant benefits for our community. These accomplishments include winning free public transportation for all welfare recipients, creating a city-employment apprenticeship program and negotiating the nation’s most comprehensive living wage ordinance.

Annie Thorkelson, Attorney at Law, will offer one dollar per minute legal advice and referrals every Wednesday from 5-7pm. This service provides a creative, personal and non-litigation forum for getting informal answers and creative solutions to legal questions, problems, and conflicts on most kinds of legal matters and questions that arise every day for ordinary San Franciscans.

A supportive Community Clinic for Women and Men who seek to heal their relationship to their body image and food.
Ear acupuncture is a very safe and effective way to treat a variety of physical and emotional medical problems. This technique has been shown in a variety of clinical settings to be beneficial in helping with emotional and psychological attributes involved addictions.

Just Say IT: How to speak your mind honestly, directly, and respectfully with whoever, wherever. Spring 2008

Is there something that needs to be said? Are there people who intimidate you and keep you from speaking your truth? Are you a strong person EXCEPT in a certain situations? Are you ready to say IT, but simply don’t know how? As women, there is a whole host of reasons that we get blocked from speaking up - not the least of which is our tendency to please. In this interactive seminar, Katherine Forsythe, MSW, you will leave with a deeper understanding of how to handle your own communication challenges, as well as a game plan for new, better tactics. You will have an easy-to-remember format for speaking up assertively, honestly, and respectfully. Get IT said!

About the Speaker:
Katherine Forsythe, MSW, is a sex and intimacy coach and educator. She is credentialed by AASECT – the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Katherine is a graduate of the University of Michigan in communications, and holds an MSW with a specialization in human sexuality. She is a graduate of San Francisco State Institute for Human Sexuality. She has been an adjunct instructor in human sexuality for physicians, at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She provides private sex coaching and intimacy coaching for individuals, partners, and couples. Katherine facilitates interactive seminars in intimacy, sexuality, and relationship communications for corporate and private sector audiences across the country.
