Exciting Volunteer Opportunity
Help Low Income Families Overcome Poverty!

Every year billions of dollars in tax credits go unclaimed by low-income taxpayers who don't know they are eligible. VITA volunteers help clients apply all the appropriate tax credits, allowing the people who need it most to get the returns they deserve. Last year, more than 40 volunteers helped to prepare over 490 tax returns and returned +$420,000 in total refunds to local residents and put it back into the local economy.

We need your help to reach even more families in 2014!

Volunteer Roles:

We have a need for English Speaking and bilingual volunteers (English-Spanish, English-Cantonese).
TWB have 4 volunteer roles you can fill:

Tax Preparer-QR – You will prepare people's taxes!
Training: Saturdays, January, 11th , 18th and 25th, 2014
Time commitment: (10-11 wks. from Feb-Apr)
You can pick your preferred shift
• Thursdays from 5.30 to 8.30pm
• Saturdays from 10am-2pm

Greeter/Screener – You will greet tax clients as they arrive and make sure they have the documents needed to complete their return. You assist greatly in managing the flow of clients in and out of our site.
Training: Requires 1 day- training on January 11th, 2014
Time commitment: (10-11 wks. from Feb-Apr)
You can pick your preferred shift
• Thursdays from 5.30 to 8.30pm
• Saturdays from 10am-2pm

Interpreter/Translator – You will assist in translating during tax preparation and greeting process.
Training: Attend TWB's orientation
Time commitment: (10-11 wks. from Feb-Apr)
You can pick your preferred shift
• Thursdays from 5.30 to 8.30pm
• Saturdays from 10am-2pm

Appointment Scheduler – You will greet and schedule appointments for our clients
Training: Attend TWB's orientation
Time commitment: (From Jan-Apr) You can pick your own schedule. Minimum 1 day of the week
• M-F from 10-1 Starting in January
• M-F from 1-5 Starting in January
