Powering Our Future

For nearly five decades, TWB has been a home for feminist organizing, mutual aid, community services, and transformative justice in the heart of San Francisco. Now, we’re taking a new stand: decarbonizing our building to protect our planet, our people, and our future.

The Project:

Building Power from the Roof Down

This capital campaign is the first phase in a long-term vision to make TWB fully sustainable and climate-resilient.

Our Immediate Goal:
Raise $176,000 to replace the roof and install solar panels.

Our Broader Vision: Our long-term upgrades will make TWB healthier, safer, and more sustainable for everyone who walks through its doors.

Water Conservation and Restroom Upgrades

Installing low-flow toilets, ADA-compliant fixtures, and improved filtration to save water and increase accessibility.

HVAC Improvements

Modernizing our heating and cooling systems to make every floor comfortable and efficient year-round.

Rental Space Enhancements

Restoring and upgrading flooring and community spaces to make them more welcoming and functional for our partners and tenants.

Network Room Enhancements

Creating stable, cooled spaces for modems and network systems, ensuring reliable connectivity for staff, tenants, and community in general.

Kitchen Electrification

Transitioning our gas appliances to electric systems to support our move toward a fossil-free future.

Security System Modernization

Upgrading doors, cameras, and key fob entry to keep our community safe while maintaining the open, welcoming spirit of our building.

Action

Resilience That Radiates: Programs Powered by this Transition

Every dollar saved through solar energy flows directly into programs that nurture community care:

Resume development, job search support, and career coaching

Digital Empowerment

Catalyst

A Feminist Blueprint for Climate Justice

TWB has always been a place where movements begin. Today, we are modeling what ecofeminism looks like in practice: collective action rooted in care, intersectionality, and community participation.

By investing in our decarbonization, we are:

  • Creating a gender-responsive model for climate adaptation that can be replicated across cities.

  • Proving that sustainability and social justice are inseparable.

  • Honoring our foremothers’ vision while preparing for future generations.

"Our building has always embodied resistance. Now, it will embody regeneration."
